George Clooney might be looking for a new leading lady.

According to reports, The Descendants actor  and Stacy Keibler have split after two years.

"Stacy called it quits. She wants to have children and a family someday. She knows where George stands on that," a source close to the couple told PEOPLE. "They talked and they quietly stopped being a couple several weeks ago." 

The couple have not been seen in public together in months and recently spent their Fourth of July vacation thousands of miles apart, NY Daily News reported.

While Clooney was seen on his speedboat near his villa in Lake Como in Italy, Keibler shared photos of herself partying in Malibu. 

"George is quietly backing away from the relationship," an insider told Britain's Sunday People. "It's ­always the same. As soon as he feels a woman is getting too close, he pulls back. It's not like George and Stacy couldn't find time to get ­together if they really wanted to."

Us Weekly reported in March that the couple was headed for splitsville. A source revealed their relationship had run its course and the age difference was a contributing factor.

"They have little in common," a source told Us Weekly about Keibler 33, and Clooney, 52. "She likes to go out and have fun. She's been feeling the age difference."

Another source confirmed the rumor and said, "The end is near. It's a matter of time."

InTouch reported in May that Clooney was seen holding hands with his ex-girlfriend, Croatian model Monika Jakisic at a members-only club in Mayfair, London. Clooney later denied the claim, telling Mail Online exclusively in a statement: "The story is made up. I wasn't holding anybody's hand. Stop trying to sell magazines by creating scandal that isn't there."

According to Mail Online's May 29 report, the last time Keibler and Clooney were photographed together was in mid-May in Berlin, Germany.

Clooney has dated a bevy of celebrities ever since he divorced actress Talia Blasam twenty years ago. He has been romantically linked to: Kelly Preston, Karen Duffy, Lucy Liu, Renee Zellweger and Italy's MTV star Elisabetta Canalis.
