Justin Bieber’s mother Pattie Mallette worries about her son and tries to steer the 19-year-old singer in the right direction by giving him daily advice, she told the Today show on Monday.

The 38-year-old visited the morning talk show to promote her new book Nowhere But Up. Her book makes mention of parenting styles and she admitted that being a parent is never easy. Mothering Bieber as much as she can, Mallette said she worries about the Beauty and a Beat singer. She also made mention of what kind of personality Bieber has.

“I think as parents we all worry about our kids, whether they’re going off to college, you know, whatever — whatever situation they’re in,” she said. “I think at a certain age, the parenting style changes. And, he’s always been such a strong-willed child, you know. I talk about that [in the book].”

Mallette said that growing up, Bieber would take charge in the classroom. Principles and teachers would pull aside the Canadian and tell him he is a "leader."

"His teachers would say, 'I have 30 students and one. When Justin's good, the whole class is good. When Justin's bad, the who class is bad,' " Mallette shared.

The mother of one gives advice to Bieber on a daily basis. Considering the superstar he has become, she hopes he still listens to what she has to say. When asked if there is anything that causes her concern in regards to his behavior, aside from "typical teenage" things, Mallette responded with the following:

“Of course. I talk to Justin. I text him and I call him every day, as much as you can for an adult child that doesn’t live with you. He knows what I think. We talk. He knows what I think. It’s stuff that obviously I can’t share with the whole world, but we definitely talk. I hope I’m still a big voice in his ear.”
