In a recent interview with UK's Hello! magazine, Jessica Alba revealed how she knew she was meant to be in Hollywood.

She explained to the publication why she embraced her sex symbol status, and how it helped her get through the door when trying to make a name for herself in the film industry.

"Before I started my family, acting was my total focus in life. I know that my looks were my path into Hollywood, but I never really enjoyed the kind of attention that comes with the [sex symbol] image," she said in the extensive interview, which included a photo spread of her home. "I'm finally comfortable in my own skin - I can embrace the idea of being a sexy and self-confident woman."

In the July 29th issue, Alba also talked about her eco-friendly baby brand The Honest Company, her book The Honest Life, and being a wife and mother. She said she has different priorities in life now that she is a mother, adding,  "I'm not afraid to turn down film roles now if I feel I need to spend more time with my children."

The 32-year-old actress, who last starred in the animated film Escape from Planet Earth, has been spending a lot of time focusing on her family. Alba wed Cash Warren in May 2008 and since then has had two children, Honor Marie and Haven Garner, who turns two on Aug. 13.

"I know it's important for me to make sure Honor grows up knowing what is proper behavior and good manners," Alba said. "I don't want to see her growing up into a younger version of myself!"

When asked about her husband, the Fantastic Four actress called him "the best father ever." She also explained how, upon first meeting him, she felt like she had known him her entire life. The happy family was spotted on July 21 having lunch in Los Angeles' Brentwood area.

Alba will next appear onscreen in Machete Kills, which hits theaters in October 2013. The star-studded cast includes Amber Heard, Vanessa Hudgens, Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas.
