After a near four year hiatus, the hit FX show Atlanta is finally back. This Donald Glover written and starring show tells the story of manager Earn (Glover) and his rapper cousin Alfred aka Paper Boi (Brain Tyree Henry) as they try to make it big in the Atlanta rap scene. Accompanied by their friend Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Earn's girlfriend Van (Zazie Beetz), they explore the ups and downs of getting older, dealing with personal conflicts, social issues, and finding their way through the hustle of the music industry.

The third season premiered at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas to a hyped up crowd. Taking the stage with a small box camera, Donald Glover took a few snapshots of the audience before being given a malfunctioning microphone. Being a jokester, Glover traded mics with the host, before going declaring,

"I got COVID! Welcome graduating class of the Austin Technical Institute. I am Daniel Kaluuya and this is the premiere of Get Out 2: Come Back." His schtick was met with thunderous laughter from those in attendance."

Glover went on to gush about his love of Austin and the city's love of theater and the arts.

"Austin's a really great place. I love watching films here. I love the crowds here. The people here really love, just, culture and film and like just enjoy an experience and I feel like, you know, the last time I watched season, uh, the premiere of Season 2 of Atlanta we were in a theater and I remember thinking, I was like, "Oh, Season 3, since it's gonna be in front of people we have to make it cinematic and, because I know I want to see it with other people, so I'm really glad it's you guys because it's a very special thing."

Cinematic is definitely the word for what the show is trying to achieve with this season. If you haven't seen the trailers released earlier this year, they play with an almost arthouse feel, showcasing the odd places the characters will be visiting throughout Paper Boi's European tour.

"I know y'all gonna pirate this and it's gonna be on TikTok in fifteen minutes, so just be, uh, nice, and, uh, talk about it and I hope you guys really enjoy it because it's some of the most, I guess my favorite work we've made together as, like, a family and a team so enjoy yourselves. Thank you."

Atlanta has always been one of the most innovative and original shows FX has to offer, focusing away from the traditional narratives audiences are used to and instead taking great care in developing some of the most bittersweet characters on television today. By the looks of the trailers, thus far, Glover and his team are pushing the envelope and we look forward to what they have in store for us when Atlanta Season 3 premieres on FX on March 24th.
