Hoda Kotb recalled the hardships she went through after starting her treatment for breast cancer.

Kobt delivered shocking news about her relationship with Joel Schiffman, saying they called off their engagement as they realized they were better off as friends. Although she does not have any relationship as of now, Kobt pours all her energy into her two daughters, Hope and Haley.

However, her pregnancy journey was not as easy as it seemed to be since she began her motherhood after receiving treatment for breast cancer.

In a new interview with Good Housekeeping, Kotb and Savannah Guthrie shared their experiences as mothers. When they started discussing the challenges they went through when starting a family, the 57-year-old spoke about freezing her eggs and how complex the process was.

"I remember that my oncologist called and we were talking about freezing my eggs. She basically said that given my age and [my breast cancer treatment], it was pretty close to a dead end," Kotb said. "I was in my room, and I just sobbed. I thought, 'Well, that's that, isn't it? Like, you almost blame yourself. Why didn't I do this? Why didn't I do that?'"

The "TODAY" show anchor was diagnosed with the dreaded disease in 2007 and had since undergone a mastectomy.

Kotb reportedly questioned how she could survive, knowing she would not have what she desired. Fortunately, she eventually welcomed her two kids via adoption.

Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie Say Support Systems Are Important

Elsewhere in the interview, the duo talked about the importance of support systems and how they helped them survive everything.

Guthrie particularly credited her mother for becoming the reason and driver toward the brighter side of her life.

"My mom got me through the personal trials of my 30s. It was great to have her, because she was just always so certain. She'd say, "Well, of course you're going to have your family, Savannah!" It felt good," she said.

Meanwhile, Kotb said she would have never adopted anyone if it had not been for her ex-fiance. The former couple initially planned to get married in November 2020.

She said that having a stable relationship was important for them. But when she finally tried adoption, she realized it was not scary at all.

She added that reading about Sandra Bullock and the children she adopted helped her to become a better mom.
