Marvel Cinematic Universe's own Tom Hiddleston has signed on with AppleTV+ to star in The White Darkness, a limited series drama based on a nonfiction book of the same name written by author David Grann

The story revolves around the real-life story of Henry Worsley (played by Tom Hiddleston) a former soldier, doting husband, and father whose love of adventure leads him on an epic expedition to cross Antarctica on foot. According to Apple, the series will explore courage, love, Family, and the extremes of human capacity.

The showrunners on The White Darkness are Soo Hugh and Mark Heyman. For Hugh, this will be the second series she has helped to create for AppleTV+ since the show Pachinko, based on the book by Min Jin Lee

This is also a second Apple series for Hiddleston who is also starring along with Homelands' Claire Danes in The Essex Serpent, based on the novel of the same name due out on May 13 of this year. He is also set to star in the second season of the Popular Disney+ MCU series Loki

Soo Hugh has several series under her belt including AMC's The Terror, Jason Mamoa's See for AppleTV+, The Whisper's for ABC, and the Stephen King adaptation of Under The Dome for CBS. 

The White Darkness is just one of many high-profile dramas being produced by AppleTV+ which include Five Days at Memorial, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, WeCrashed, and Masters of the Air

There is no release date as of yet for The White Darkness.
