Chris Evans' star-making role as Captain America was one of those career-defining characters which will most likely be the role fans will always relate to the actor - and he doesn't take his mantle as "The First Avenger" lightly.

While doing press for Lightyear, Evans had a chance to sit down and talk with the D23 Podcast to discuss the animated film. Then the subject of Marvel was brought up, because, of course it was, and any future prospects of playing Cap, or rather, Steve Rogers again in the MCU

"No, I don't think so. I mean it was a really unbelievable ride, and the character's just so dear to m,e and I'm just so precious with it.

To return to the role - I mean the truth is, the role isn't even mine anymore. The role is Anthony Mackie's. So, you know, even if there was a different incarnation, not as Captain America, but you know for Steve Rogers, even that would feel... I'd be very cautious, just because I love that chapter of my life professionally, personally.

"I love what those movies accomplished, and to revisit it and potentially have some weird extension to that legacy would be upsetting if it didn't land. So it would require a near-perfect recipe and it may just not be in the cards."

At least we know that Evans respects the character and the fans enough to know what works and what doesn't, which is rare these days in Hollywood. Sure a truckload of cash to reprise a role is enticing, but in the long run, does coming back to a completed story arc really benefit anyone other than the box office receipts?

Evans has always seemed to be an actor who speaks his mind, makes the right decisions, and loves what he does. And with Captain America, he definitely treats his bread and butter with the utmost care.
