Comedian-turned-filmmaker Jordan Peele has been two-for-two with audiences and critics in terms of making films with not only an intellectual eye-opening slant in terms of social commentary in America, but brilliantly out there premises which draw the viewer in from the moment a trailer drops.

First Get Out, and then Us; His newest film, Nope, is fully on course to do the same.

In an interview with Empire, Peele discussed what his intentions are for Nope, and how the concept of spectacle was a huge part of his creative process while building the world of the film.

"I started off wanting to make a film that would put an audience in the immersive experience of being in the presence of a UFO. I wanted to make a spectacle, something that would promote my favorite art form and my favorite way of watching that art form: the theatrical experience.

"As I started writing the script, I started to dig into the nature of spectacle, our addiction to spectacle, and the insidious nature of attention. So that's what it's about. And it's about a brother and sister and healing their relationship."

Is it aliens? A government cover-up? An otherworldly presence from another dimension?

Ever the showman, Peele has definitely leaned into the idea of spectacle as a human instinct, drawing us closer to the unknown even when it might mean our own peril in the process. From the early trailers to the easter egg layden poster art to the reveal of an alien craft, his trail of breadcrumbs could be nothing more than smoke and mirrors meant to trick the audience into thinking Nope is one thing, only to find the real narrative once credits roll.

EIther way, his intentions are definitely worn right on his sleeve.

Nope will be flying into theaters on July 22.
