After months of waiting, fans can finally watch the official trailer of Andrew Dominik's "Blonde," a biopic surrounding Marilyn Monroe's life from her childhood to becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

According to Variety, the film is based on the bestselling novel of the same name written by Joyce Carol Oates.

Aside from Ana de Armas, who plays the role of the blonde bombshell, the star-studded cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Evan Williams, and Xavier Samuel. (watch the full trailer below)

The biopic is one of the highly-anticipated movies to compete at the Venice Film Festival.

Regarding its appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in France, the event's chief Thierry Fermaux noted that he had been attempting to put the movie in the 2022 lineup but was unable to do so because of internal problems regarding Netflix.

Any movies from the streaming giant have not been nominated or competed in the film festival since 2017 after they imposed a rule that requires all movies should be released in theaters in France.

In a previous interview, de Armas said production have been exerting effort by working almost every day for a year.

To fully embody the character, the actress said she read the original novel and studied "hundreds of photographs, videos, audio recordings, films" or anything she could gather.

"Every scene is inspired by an existing photograph. We'd pore over every detail in the photo and debate what was happening in it," she added.

De Armas noted that the movie wanted to show the "human side" of Marilyn Monroe as she was the most famous person in the world at one point, and it made her true self "invisible."

After releasing the trailer, the "Blade Runner" star received mixed reactions from fans as many of them criticized her accent.

"Looks incredible but unfortunately her accent gets in the way. I know she worked really hard but it's still very much there," one wrote.

"I know she worked really hard to dissolve her accent for the role, but unfortunately it's still there. And in the weirdest of ways too. I hope it doesn't completely take me out of the movie. I'm excited to watch. It looks great," another one wrote.

Other users have praised de Armas for her portrayal of Monroe.

"Cannot wait to see this. Very confused as to where people are hearing a "very thick Spanish accent" when they haven't even seen the film already," another wrote.

"Blonde" will be available for streaming on Netflix starting September 28.
