It looks like fans will have to say good bye to Kat Hernandez as actress Barbie Ferreira announces her departure from HBO's "Euphoria".

In her Instagram story on Wednesday, the "Euphoria" star announced that she would not be returning to the HBO hit series for its third season. The last episode aired in February this year, garnering an average of 16.3 million viewers for its second season.

The actress posted a fan-made art of her character, Kat Hernandez, accompanied by her announcement:

"After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did, and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today."

It's no surprise that "Euphoria" fans love Ferreira's character, as Kat has been known to use the internet as a means of escapism from the reality of High school life. Ferreira portrayed high schooler Kat Hernandez, who thrived in her secret online life as a famous fan fiction writer and later turned into a dominatrix after a leaked scandal.

"Toxic" HBO Production?

The production of "Euphoria" has been surrounded by numerous controversies during the past season. Sources told The Daily Beast that several complaints have been made to SAG-AFTRA, from long hours on set to a "toxic" production. However, HBO defended its production from these claims in a statement to THR.

"The production was in full compliance with all safety guidelines and guild protocols. It's not uncommon for drama series to have complex shoots, and COVID protocols add an additional layer. We maintain an open line of communication with all the guilds, including SAG-AFTRA. There were never any formal inquiries raised." an HBO spokesperson said.

In another controversy, insiders claim that an incident resulted in Barbie Ferreira storming off on set. According to the claims, director Sam Levinson and the actress did not agree on the direction of Kat Hernandez's character. Ferreira had allegedly believed that her character does not have as big of a storyline in the second season compared to the first one.

In addition to her role in "Euphoria", Ferreira also made her film debut in "Unpregnant" and appeared as a cameo in "Nope".
