The world is mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II and Netflix's hit series "The Crown" made a big move following the news of her passing as a form of respect; what did they do?

The famed show has been airing since 2016 and it recreated many of the significant moments that happened in the lives of the British Royal Family including Her Majesty's crowning, Princess Diana's experience, and many more.

Speaking to Deadline, writer Peter Morgan revealed that the award-winning program will halt its production "out of respect."

He noted that the series is a "love letter" to the late monarch and he wanted to give her "silence and respect" after the tragic news broke out.

Morgan has refused to give any further comments about the Queen's death.

The sixth season of "The Crown" was initially set to film this fall. As of this writing, production has not confirmed how long they will take a break before they continue filming.

Decider reported that Netflix had been preparing for Her Majesty's death as Stephen Daldry previously said that no one knows when she'll pass away, but when the time comes, it would be "right and proper to show respect."

"It would be a simple tribute and a mark of respect. She's a global figure and it's what we should do," he added.

Since the show covered almost the entire life of Queen Elizabeth, numerous actresses have already played her roles like Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton.

Netflix confirmed last week that their new characters and stars are set to appear in season six. New faces will grace the show like Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton, Rufus Kampa and Ed McVey as Prince William.

Queen Elizabeth II Dead at 96

According to BBC News, the longest-reigning monarch has passed away at the age of 96 at Balmoral, her Scottish estate.

The Queen spent 70 years on the throne and celebrated her platinum Jubilee earlier this year.

Her son has now assumed the throne as he's already King Charles III. The new monarch issued a statement about his mother's death, saying it was a "moment of great sadness" and the impact of her passing was "deeply felt" around the world.

"I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world," he added.
