Prince Harry's obsession with one thing emerged amid the issues surrounding his upcoming memoir.

Before Queen Elizabeth II's death, Prince Harry planned to release his tell-all book as soon as possible. But out of respect for the late monarch, he delayed it and decided to make edits.

With those changes, he became the subject of the tabloids again - which has reportedly been his obsession long before Meghan came.

The Sun released the comment by Valentine Lowe, the author of "Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown" he made during his appearance on the October 5 episode of "Good Morning Britain." The royal correspondent said that the Duke of Sussex's relationship with the press has always been making him unhappy.

But he noted that Prince Harry was obsessed with it.

"He would use this phrase the whole time, 'the palace syndrome', when you won't fight the battles he wants, because you have been institutionalized. It was a constant test of loyalty. 'Are you going to protect me? Or have you just become one of them, who won't fight for me?' It was exhausting," he continued.

The tension worsened when Meghan came and became the main subject of tabloids. Lowe said that things significantly worsened when the Duchess arrived on the scene.

Prince Harry Hated Press Because of Princess Diana

Prince Harry's rage against the press is rooted from the moment Princess Diana died.

In 2017, Prince Harry and Prince William denounced the paparazzi who chased their late mother on the night of her death. The Duke of Sussex recalled the painful event when the photographers who chased her car and led the accident were the ones who took photos of her while she was fighting for her life in the back seat of the Mercedes.

CBS News correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti noted how Prince Harry accused the press of standing and watching Princess Diana die instead of helping her or asking for immediate help.

The late Princess of Wales was still alive after the accident, and a doctor who happened to be driving on the tunnel stopped by and helped her.

She was taken to a Paris hospital but later died due to the injuries she sustained.
