Tim Burton's bucket list does not include making a Marvel film.

Burton's directing power and Marvel's proven empire could be a perfect combination since the director has been known for his gothic and horror films, while the MCU remains the highest-grossing movie franchise in history.

But recently, the filmmaker revealed the reason why he does not have any plans to become part of a Marvel film.

On Saturday, the "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" director appeared in a press conference at the Lumière Festival in Lyon, France.

As reported by Deadline, Burton addressed his working relationship with Disney and why he cannot work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to the filmmaker, the mouse house became "homogenized and consolidated" in the past years. But for his part, he does not want to leave the universe he is currently in right now.

"I can only deal with one universe, l can't deal with a multi-universe," he went on.

Burton also spoke about being hired and fired several times by Disney and clarified how his 2019 "Dumbo" would not be followed by another project anytime soon. He opened up about feeling the need to escape while working on the live-action, saying that his days with Disney were done.

It was not the first time Burton opened up about his lack of plans to become part of the MCU.

In 2019, he told The Toronto Sun (via CinemaBlend): "I do feel grateful being there at a time when it felt new. I don't know that I could get that excitement again saying, 'I'm going to go do Squirrel Boy for Marvel.'"

Why Tim Burton Chooses To Work With Johnny Depp

Although he refused to become part of the MCU, Burton made most of his films with Johnny Depp. After collaborating with the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor in "Edward Scissorhands" in 1990, Burton continuously tapped him to appear in "Corpse Bride," "Alice in Wonderland," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and "Sweeney Todd in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

He explained during his attendance at the Lumière Film Festival in France that he wanted Depp to lead his films because he believed Depp could bring to life any character he wrote.

Burton also expressed his desire to see him again in the next role.
