A famous Brazilian influencer tragically passed away Tuesday after undergoing liposuction surgery in São Paulo, Brazil. She was 29.

Luana Andrade suffered a massive pulmonary embolism at the hospital, where she was admitted Monday for an "aesthetic procedure," Globo 1 reported.

According to a statement obtained by the Brazilian news outlet from the hospital, the influencer suffered a cardiac arrest around two and a half hours after the surgery, leading to her admission to the intensive care unit.

"Patient Luana Andrade was admitted, accompanied by her family, on Monday afternoon to the unit for a liposuction procedure, carried out by a private surgeon and anesthetist hired by the family," the hospital stated in Portuguese, according to a translation published by Page Six. "After approximately two and a half hours of surgery, the patient presented with an abrupt respiratory event and went into cardiac arrest, being immediately resuscitated by the team."

Tests revealed a massive thrombosis, and despite medical efforts, Andrade's health continued to deteriorate. She died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the hospital said.

Massive pulmonary embolism, which is reportedly a leading complication associated with liposuction procedures, was cited as the cause of death. A pulmonary embolism is "a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung," according to the Mayo Clinic.

A wake was held for Andrade Wednesday at the Valle dos Reis Cemetery in São Paulo.

João Hadad, Andrade's boyfriend, expressed his grief over her death on Instagram, remembering her as his "princess" and "partner for life" in a heartbreaking tribute.

"You are my sunshine princess," Hadad wrote in Portuguese alongside a photo of them near the Eiffel Tower in Paris. "I ask that you continue to watch over me and all of us from above. I will love you always and forever!"

The couple had celebrated their second anniversary a month before Andrade's untimely death.

On Oct. 11, she shared a poignant tribute via Instagram, emphasizing their intense love and the joy they found in living their dreams together.

Andrade gained prominence as a contestant on Season 6 of the Brazilian reality TV show "Power Couple," where she participated alongside Hadad.

Earlier this year, she announced her role as a stage assistant for the Brazilian show "Domingo Legal."

With over 563,000 followers on Instagram, Andrade also ventured into the fashion industry by founding her clothing brand, Lukand.

Her sudden demise has left fans and loved ones mourning the loss of a vibrant influencer and reality TV personality.
