American illusionist David Blaine was advised by his doctor to steer clear of one of the stunts he is attempting to do on his upcoming show, which is inspired by a man he met in India.

While the 50-year-old extreme performer was up for trying new difficult stunts, he was stopped by his doctor in his attempt to push skewers and hooks through his torso like the Indian guy he met.

According to Blaine, he travels the world to meet people who do things that seem impossible and to learn new stunts.

He is scheduled to premiere a new live show, "IMpossible," at the Encore Theater in Wynn Las Vegas on the weekend of New Year's Eve.

The "IM" in the show's title reportedly stands for interactive magic, per the New York Post. It will also showcase magic stunts that will tell the illusionist's personal story and give an insight into the people who inspired him.

Meanwhile, according to Blaine's official website, his show will present "awe-inspiring close-up magic and adrenaline-pumping acts" that have given Blaine worldwide acclaim for decades.

"There will be so many dangerous things at the Wynn," he revealed. "This show can abruptly end at any time. I like that," Blaine continued.

Tickets for the show are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.

Described by American media personality Howard Stern as "the greatest magician who ever lived," Blaine has attempted to do stunts that defy the boundaries of human endurance.

Among the many death-defying stunts he's done so far include being buried alive for seven days, being frozen in a block of ice for three days, starving inside a box for 44 days, holding his breath for 17 minutes and four seconds, eating over 30 lbs of glass and shoving an ice pick through his hands and biceps, among many others.

Blaine previously hurt himself while doing one of his stunts during his live show in Las Vegas earlier this year.

In the trick he said he'd done many times previously without injury, the audience tried to figure out which of the three upside-down styrofoam cups had an ice pick inside. Then, Blaine placed both hands over the two unchosen cups and smashed them.

Unfortunately, the audience picked the wrong cup, and he suffered an injury after his hand landed on top of an ice pick. While he felt unsure about the audience's cup selection at the time, he didn't want to delay his show.

"The show must go on, so I just cleaned up the blood and started again a minute later," Blaine thought at the time.
