Anthony Edwards is speaking out following accusations made by Instagram model Paige Jordae.

In a statement posted Monday on X, formerly Twitter, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard neither confirmed nor denied the claims made by Jordae that he allegedly attempted to pressure her into getting an abortion after cheating on his partner.

"I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man," he wrote.

"All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them," he added. "I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time."

Edwards is believed to be in a relationship with Jeanine Robel.

The allegations surfaced when Jordae released via her Instagram Story what she claimed to be text messages between her and Edwards. Enstarz could not independently verify the authenticity of the messages.

The alleged text messages detailed her informing Edwards of the pregnancy, to which he purportedly responded, "Hell naw l can't do this," and later stated, "I don't want a kid."

Edwards allegedly instructed Jordae, who boasts nearly 2 million followers on Instagram across two accounts, in the purported messages to "get an abortion" and suggested she "just take the pills."

Jordae also posted a receipt for an incoming wire transfer of $100,000, allegedly sent by Edwards.

The messages, which have since been reposted by users on X, also suggested that Edwards allegedly demanded video proof of Jordae taking the purported abortion pills.

The allegations and Edwards' response came during what is one of the Timberwolves' best starts to a season in years, with a 19-5 record, the best in the Western Conference.

Edwards, in his fourth season with the Wolves, is enjoying individual success, averaging 24.2 points and 5.1 assists per game.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch acknowledged the situation, stating, "It's not reflective of our organization, of our values," and emphasized that ongoing conversations would take place, according to CBS News.

However, he also noted that the matter is personal to Edwards, and any discussions would remain private.

This incident follows a previous social media scandal involving Edwards.

Last year, he issued a public apology after posting a homophobic video on his Instagram, wherein he made derogatory remarks about a group of shirtless men.

Edwards acknowledged his mistake and expressed regret for his words.
