Rachel McAdams is open to a "Mean Girls" reunion despite not joining her former co-stars in a recent commercial.

The actress was absent from the 2023 Black Friday Walmart commercial, where she could have reunited with her "Mean Girls" co-stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert.

Speaking to Variety Wednesday, McAdams explained why she wasn't in the ad, saying, "I don't know; I guess I wasn't that excited about doing a commercial if I'm being totally honest."

McAdams clarified, "I've never done commercials, and it just didn't feel like my bag."

In the commercial, which aired on Nov. 1, Lohan, Seyfried, Chabert, Daniel Franzese, and Rajiv Surendra reprised their roles as Cady Heron, Karen Smith, Gretchen Wieners, Damian, and Kevin Gnapoor, respectively. The characters reunited at North Shore High School, where a new generation of "It girls" now held sway.

"Some things never change. On Wednesdays, we wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals," said Cady, now a guidance counselor.

The commercial also revisited some memorable scenes from "Mean Girls," including Karen's iconic weather report and the famous "Jingle Bell Rock" performance with the sultry Santa costumes.

McAdams suggested that she could have been more open to it had she known her former co-stars would be participating in the ad.

"I would, of course, always love to be part of a 'Mean Girls' reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later," she told Variety.

McAdams, who played self-proclaimed Queen of the Plastics Regina George in the 2004 comedy, did express interest in a movie reunion, saying that the prospect sounded "awesome."

Nearly two decades after the original film hit theaters, the "Mean Girls" legacy lives on, with an adaptation of the Broadway musical version of the movie set to be released by Paramount Pictures in January, featuring Tina Fey's return.

According to McAdams, she and Fey had discussed a potential Regina cameo in the upcoming adaptation, but the plan ultimately fell through.

"I was really down for whatever she wanted to do," she explained, before adding, "I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it."

Page Six had previously reported in November that Lohan, Seyfried, and Chabert "had a great time" bonding over motherhood when they reunited for the filming of the commercial.

"It was definitely a loss not having Rachel there," an unnamed source told the outlet.

Meanwhile, McAdams' latest film, "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret," saw her playing Barbara Simon, the mother of the titular character. The movie, based on Judy Blume's beloved book, explores themes of identity, life, friendship, and adolescence.

The film has received widespread acclaim, with McAdams earning a win from the L.A. Film Critics for best supporting performance, raising the possibility of her securing a second Academy Award nomination.

Fremon Craig's adapted screenplay also received a nomination from the Critics Choice Awards, adding to the film's potential recognition in major award ceremonies.
