After spending eight years in prison for the murder of her mom Dee Dee in 2015, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is scheduled to be released from prison on Thursday.

In an interview with People, Gypsy Rose, now 32 years old, revealed that her desperation to escape her mom's alleged mental and physical abuse led her to ask her then-boyfriend Nicholas "Nick" Godejohn to kill her.

Talking about the past, Gypsy Rose shared that she regrets her decision to have her mother killed, adding, "If I had another chance to redo everything, I don't know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I'm not sick and mommy makes me sick."

She continued, "Or if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, 'You know what, I'm going to go tell the police everything.' I kind of struggle with that."

"Nobody will ever hear me say I'm glad she's dead, or I'm proud of what I did. I regret it every single day."

Meanwhile, her now ex-boyfriend Godejohn reportedly has no regrets despite receiving a life sentence for Dee Dee's murder. Recent reports claimed that, according to him, he'd do the crime again if it meant saving Gypsy Rose.

Talking about the upcoming Lifetime docuseries "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose" which will premiere on Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Gypsy Rose shared that she hopes her story will serve as a warning for others to not go through the same path she went through.

"I want to make sure that people in abusive relationships do not resort to murder. It may seem like every avenue is closed off, but there is always another way," she said. "Do anything, but don't take this course of action."

She also talked about her journey of coming to grips with her past, saying, "I'm still trying to come to a place of forgiveness for her, for myself and the situation."

In 2016, then-24-year-old Gypsy Rose received a 10-year prison sentence for her role in her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard's murder. Dee Dee was stabbed to death in 2015 by Gypsy Rose's then-boyfriend. She was 48.

Her decision to have her mother killed came after trying to run away from another needless surgery.

Gypsy Rose was believed to have been a victim of Munchausen by proxy, a mental illness and form of child abuse, where the child's caretaker does extreme things like making up fake symptoms or causing real symptoms to make it appear that the child is sick.
