Marvel actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans is currently hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a car following the New Year's Eve celebrations in New York City.

The incident occurred at Chirp, a Peruvian restaurant in Manhattan, at around 1:30 a.m. Monday, according to a statement obtained by People from Bernans' representative.

The 29-year-old actress was walking on the pavement with a friend when the car collided with a food truck, pinning her beneath the stand and rendering her unconscious.

Bernans suffered several broken bones and chipped teeth in the crash and is currently in stable condition in the hospital.

Several others, including at least two police officers, were also injured in the incident. The driver, who was trying to escape police at the time of the crash, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, CBS News reported.

On Tuesday, Bernans, who featured in "The Color Purple," "Black Panther," and "Avengers: Endgame," posted a video from her hospital bed, sharing that she's "still in so much pain."

"The nerve pains in my teeth hurts me badly," she added.

Bernans' mother, Patricia Lee, shared an update on Instagram Monday on her daughter's condition, along with graphic images of the stuntwoman's injuries.

In the pictures, Bernans' face appeared swollen, bruised, and bloodied. One image showed her chipped front teeth and the multiple cuts on her face.

Bernans' mother stated that the actress had completed surgery and was in "pain but healing."

Lee said she is "thanking God that she's alive" and expressed gratitude for the support the family has received.

The new mom's child was not present at the time of the incident, her mother confirmed.

In another post on Instagram, Bernans' mother asked for help for the actress' hospital bills and shared a link to a GoFundMe page.

"If you are able to help her, please help. May God bless you for your kindness and generosity. Please share [and] keep sending your prayers," Lee wrote.

The car crash occurred during a police foot chase related to an alleged physical assault involving the 44-year-old male driver of a black Mercedes and a 34-year-old female passenger in the area of 33rd Street and 6th Avenue, according to a police statement obtained by People. Both the driver and passenger were not named in the report.

Police attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the driver failed to comply, fleeing in the vehicle and causing the collision that injured Bernans and several others, the statement said.

The driver mounted the sidewalk, struck a food cart, and hit multiple pedestrians, including "a 29-year-old female pedestrian," police said.

According to police, the driver was taken into custody after hitting "two unoccupied parked vehicles and a 2022 Toyota Camry in the roadway" with his car.

Two police officers and the driver of the Mercedes were also injured during the incident. The injured pedestrians, officers, and the driver were transported to hospitals.

Video footage from the scene obtained by the Daily Mail showed the three cars involved in the wreck and a man who appeared to be unconscious being transported on a stretcher.

An investigation is ongoing.
