Happy New Year!

2024 has kicked off and we've already survived the first 10 days of the year. While the past week and a half has not been without its bumps and humps -- from celebrity deaths to rumored breakups to high-profile feuds -- it's also been an entertaining ride thus far with new movies and TV shows to binge on.

Having multiple streaming platforms available also means all too many movie options and it's hard to find the perfect one to spend your precious time on.

To help you find the best movies to watch this weekend, we've listed the top streamed films across the world in the first week of 2024, according to JustWatch.

Enjoy!

USA: The Holdovers

Starring Paul Giamatti, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Dominic Sessa, "The Holdovers" is a comedy-drama about a bad-tempered teacher (Giamatti) who was forced to chaperone students left at school for the holiday break.

"Left to their own devices in the empty school, there are adventures, a little calamity and finally, a semblance of family," the official symopsis of the movie reads.

The impressive performances of Giamatti and Randolph have won them acting awards at the recently concluded Golden Globes.

"The Holdovers" is streaming on Peacock Premium and available on-demand on Prime, Apple TV and Youtube Movies.

United Kingdom: Saltburn

This movie is a bold one! And it's not only for reasons you might think.

Yes, Barry Keoghan danced buck naked in the movie, which is indeed a bold move! But the psychological thriller also had a gripping storyline and some rather uneasy scenes that make for a movie you won't forget.

"Saltburn" is available to stream on Prime.

Singapore: Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire

Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon" was initially pitched as a Star Wars project. Lucasfim didn't pick it up so he went on and created the movie for Netflix.

"When the ruthless forces of the Motherworld threaten a quiet farming village on a distant moon, a mysterious outsider becomes its best hope for survival," reads the official synopsis.

The film is currently streaming on Netflix and stars Charlie Hunnam, Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Philippines: 365 Days

This isn't a new one, but somehow Filipino viewers are still hooked on this erotic thriller.

"365 Days" is about a woman who "falls victim to a dominant mafia boss, who imprisons her and gives her one year to fall in love with him."

The film was released in 2020 and was well received globally, becoming the #1 Netflix movie in the U.S. Critics weren't too fond of the movie, however, with multiple sources giving it a failing mark.

"365 Days" is streaming on Netflix, together with its two sequels -- "The Next 365 Days" and "365 Days This Day."

South Africa: Society of the Snow

This one is based on the true story of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 carrying members of the Old Christians Club amateur rugby crashing in the Andes mountains in 1972. Of the initial 32 survivors, only 16 made it through the treacherous environment after 72 days of being stranded.

The film follows the survivors struggle to stay alive in the remote heart of the Andes.

"Society of the Snow" is streaming on Netflix.
