Jennifer Lopez said Ayo Edebiri tearfully apologized to her over her resurfaced insults about the former's career, but some social media users aren't convinced the award-winning actress meant it.

In a new interview with Variety, Lopez shared details about the apology, saying that a "mortified" Edebiri expressed deep regret right before their "Saturday Night Live" episode in early February.

"She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things," the "Let's Get Loud" hitmaker, 54, recalled.

"She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform," the singer-actress added. "She was just like, 'I'm so f*****g sorry, it was so awful of me.'"

While Lopez took the apology in stride, some social media users began trolling her, suggesting that the 28-year-old "Bear" star was merely showcasing her acting skills with the tearful apology.

"Oh give Ayo another Emmy because I'd kill to see that performance!!" one user quipped on X, formerly Twitter.

"Another critically acclaimed award-winning performance from my [G.O.A.T.]," another user joked.

"Ayo had tears in her eyes 'cause it was worse than she thought," another claimed.

One user addressed Edebiri, writing: "Girl, you know you meant every single word of what you said and you don't regret it."

Others, however, believed that Edebiri sincerely apologized after meeting Lopez face to face.

"JLo haters will never be brave to her face because they know their hate comes from jealousy," one user wrote.

Edebiri's criticism of Lopez dates back to 2020 when she described the "Hustlers" star's fame as "one long scam."

"She thinks she's on multiple tracks, but it's not her," Edebiri claimed during an appearance on the "Scam Goddess" podcast. "I think she thinks that she's still good even though she's not singing for most of these songs."

Edebiri alleged that Lopez didn't sing all of her tracks, citing instances where write-ups mentioned Lopez's absence from the studio.

"A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, 'J.Lo didn't have time to make it to the studio,' like, 'J.Lo was busy,'" she recalled. "It's like, 'Doing what?' Not singing, obviously!"

Ayo Edebiri poses with the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for "The Bear" in the press room during the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on January 7, 2024.

These comments resurfaced when Edebiri was announced as the host of the Feb. 3 episode of "SNL" with Lopez as the musical guest.

Edebiri addressed her comments during the show with a skit called "Why'd You Say It?," where participants explained questionable remarks they made.

"It's wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout or run your mouth on a podcast and you don't consider the impact because you're 24 and stupid," she said when she was put in the hot seat, according to Page Six. "But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we're going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online."

Despite the 2020 comments, Edebiri and Lopez appeared amicable during the "SNL" episode, exchanging compliments in a promo clip.

Last month, Edebiri received the trophy for best supporting actress in a comedy series at the 2023 Emmy Awards for her role as Sydney Adamu in FX's "The Bear."

She also took home the Golden Globe for best supporting female actor in a TV series for her Season 2 performance.
