OnlyFans influencer and Cuacolandia founder Elena Larrea's untimely death at age 30 allegedly happened after a recent liposuction operation.

On Wednesday, a statement about Mexican influencer's passing was posted on Cuacolandia's official Instagram account.

"With deep sorrow, we inform you of the departure of Elena Larrea, president and founder of Cuacolandia, who, unfortunately, yesterday, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., died due to a pulmonary thrombosis that caused a clot in the lung," the translated statement read.

"We will remember and continue to work for all that she bravely pushed for this foundation. We will promote her legacy and love so that our cuckoos, donkeys and mules will live in freedom and in appropriate conditions in Mexico, and our sanctuary of equines rescued from abuse and neglect."

The people behind the account also thanked Larrea for her "love and dedication" and wished her "eternal rest and peace." They also sent their heartfelt condolences to Larrea's surviving loved ones and friends.

According to the Mayo Clinic, pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is "a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung."

It is probably the leading cause of liposuction-related death, per Liposuction 101. Most frequently, it reportedly happens with general anesthesia or heavy intravenous (IV) sedation, unnecessary perioperative IV fluid infusion and excessive liposuction.

Per Mirror and other media outlets, it was not confirmed what caused the blood clot to form in Larrea's lungs. However, it was alleged that this happened after she reportedly underwent a liposuction procedure recently.

Elena, an animal activist advocating horses, is the founder of an animal sanctuary in Puebla, which rescues horses, donkeys and other animals that were victims of abuse.

She pursued an OnlyFans career to increase her earnings and save Cuacolandia from closing down after the pandemic.

Cuacolandia is now home to nearly 50 animals and has rescued 312 abused and abandoned horses.

Following the death of Larrea, Puebla state governor Sergio Salomon paid a heart-warming tribute and promised to guarantee the protection of the animals at the sanctuary she left.

"I deeply regret the death of Elena Larrea, a tireless fighter for the defense of animal welfare. The rescue of thousands of abused horses is a testimony to her life and work," he said in Spanish.

"With the Ministry of the Environment, we can guarantee the protection of the animals at Cuacolandia. We will provide all the necessary help so other horses are cared for by the authorities as well as those already rescued, prioritizing their wellbeing at all times."
