A man in California was arrested for walking around town while allegedly chomping on a human leg.

A man identified by TMZ as Rosendo Tellez, 27, was arrested last Friday in Wasco, California, after eyewitnesses saw him walking with a severed leg which the man reportedly illegally took from a train accident at a nearby Amtrak station that morning.

An onlooker filmed the man allegedly chomping on the leg of the pedestrian who was struck by the train, per Fox26 News.

In the censored video, Tellez, who was wearing a red hoodie and black loose pants, was seen holding and sniffing the chopped-off human leg while walking down the sidewalk.

Tellez appeared nonchalant as he carried out his disturbing behavior in broad daylight.

In an uncensored version of the video, the uploader claimed that he was also taking bites out of the leg.

"Wasco man seen eating a human leg after [a] woman was hit by [a] train nearby," the caption read.

23 ABC reported that the 27-year-old was arrested by the Kern County Sheriff's Office for illegally moving a body part from a place that is not a cemetery.

The arrest followed an accident wherein an unidentified individual was hit by an Amtrak train, resulting in immediate death and a severed leg.

Tellez is scheduled to appear in court in Shafter on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, the disturbing incident ignited a discussion on mental health among the homeless.

"An individual most likely in the right state of mind would probably not do something like this," Carlos Baldovinos, Mission at Kern's executive director, told Bakersfield Now.

While he admitted that he was not a mental expert, he said that Tellez could be one of the many homeless people in Kern County suffering from a mental health illness or substance abuse.

Baldovinos said that he hopes Prop 1, a new initiative that requires counties to spend on programs to tackle homelessness, will provide aid for people like Tellez.
