Prince William didn't want to leak his wife Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis before she made the announcement, so he didn't tell Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about it, according to a royal commentator.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a British public relations consultant and commentator, weighed in on the reports that Prince Harry learned about his sister-in-law's cancer diagnosis from TV. Fitzwilliams claimed that the Prince of Wales "hasn't trusted Harry and Meghan" since their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 and the release of their Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" and the Duke of Sussex's memoir "Spare."

"There's a deep rift between the brothers -- that we know. We also know that they haven't apparently spoken in many months, and the reason, of course, is that for some four years, they've caused endless problems to the Royal Family, and so they can't be trusted," Fitzwilliams told The Sun of Prince Harry and Markle.

"There was no reason to monetize their links with the royal family. The trouble is that's the only thing that appears to have made a lot of money for them."

Meanwhile, Tom Quinn, another royal expert and author of "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle," claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were informed about Middleton's condition shortly after she made the announcement.

"Harry and Meghan were told about Kate's cancer diagnosis, but only a very short time before the television announcement," Quinn said, per Mirror. "Telling them was a huge problem for the palace because if they'd left Meghan and Harry in the dark until Kate's TV broadcast, there was a real risk the couple would have complained that once again the royal family was treating them badly."

Quinn noted that informing the Sussexes "shortly before the TV broadcast" was a good strategy because, in a way, Prince Harry and Markle could not complain that they were ignored. Also, doing so meant there was "less of a risk the couple might spill the beans before Kate's broadcast."

Some royal experts previously assumed that Middleton's cancer diagnosis could pave the way for the royals' reconciliation with the Sussexes. However, sources close to the Waleses said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were unlikely to meet with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should they visit the United Kingdom as they have no plans to reconcile. According to the tipsters, the "Harry problem" would be the last thing on their minds amid King Charles and Middleton's cancer battle.
