Actress Lake Bell posed nude with strategically placed body paint for New York magazine's Fall Fashion Issue.

In the photo, Bell is completely naked and wearing only a fake tattoo of gray flowers that covers her chest. The artwork was designed by her tattoo artist husband Scott Campbell. The revealing cover was photographed by famed celebrity lensman Mark Seliger for the issue.

Bell showed off her curves to promote In A World, an independent film that was released on Friday. She makes her directorial debut with the new movie, wrote the script and also appears in the film.

In A World is a story about an underwhelmed vocal coach who has dreams of becoming a voice-over actor. She is motivated by her father who has a successful career providing voice-overs for movie trailers to pursue her new career path.

Bell premiered the film at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and won the Wald Salt Screenwriting Award. She said in a recent interview that she wrote the screenplay after she realized that she and other women tend to speak with a "sexy baby vocal virus."

"It's like a speech pattern that includes uptalking and fry, so it's this amalgamation of really unsavory sounds that many young women have adopted. It's a pandemic, in my opinion," Bell told NPR in a report published on July 25.

"I grew up thinking a female voice and sound should sound sophisticated and sexy, a la Lauren Bacall or Anne Bancroft or Faye Dunaway, you know. Not a 12-year-old little girl that is submissive to the male species," she explained, adding, "I can't have people around me that speak that way," she confessed.
