Former Full House star Lori Loughlin had some advice for Justin Bieber and other young celebrities following her own early start in the Hollywood limelight.

Loughlin started her television career in her teens on a daytime soap opera before moving on to television films and guest starring roles. She was a print model and commercial actress before taking on the memorable role of Becky Katsopolis in Full House from 1988-1995. She has since starred in the TV series' 90210, In Case of Emergency, Summerland and Spin City, to name a few.

She had cameras flashing in her face from a young age and when asked if it was hard growing up in the spotlight, she compared the media attention back then to what it is like now for young stars.

"I was happy doing what I wanted to do. I didn't find it difficult," she started off by saying, before adding, "of course it's different I think today for kids, just different the way the media is set up. Paparazzi, tabloids, it's very different nowadays. It wasn't like that when I was younger and working."

She also contributed the easy time she had growing up as a young starlet to the "nice home base" she returned to each day. Her family was very involved in her life and she had "supportive but stable parents." The actress explained her stance on the notion that tabloids nowadays focus on both a celebrity's professional and private life - much different than what Loughlin remembers experiences at the start of her career.

"I see a lot focused on personal behavior, and personal choices and personal lifestyle[s]....A lot of time, a lot of space is devoted to, you know, relationships and outings and catching people shopping at the supermarket or the gas station. This didn't [happen] when I was working; when I was younger," she said.

Loughlin has two teenage daughters - Isabella and Olivia - with her husband, fashion designer Massimo Giannulli. She admitted that the girls love the guys from One Direction and when asked if she would let her daughters date a celebrity, she said it depends on the person.

"If it was some upstanding, lovely celebrity verses some no celebrity that was a drug dealer, of course I would. It just depends on who the person is," she said. "I think their job is irrelevant. No matter what they do as a living, I don't think that 100 percent defines them as a person. I would just love for them to make smart choices and be men, or young men who are nice and respectful and are just upstanding guys."

Justin Bieber is not that much older than Isabella and Olivia, possibly making him a potential suitor, but Loughlin was hesitant in her approval of the Beauty and a Beat singer.

"Well, you know, he seems very sweet but he's derailed a little bit lately," she said with a laugh, "but hopefully he's gonna get it back together."

The 19-year-old Canadian singer's behavior has made headlines more and more over the past few months, with one recent story about a nude acoustic performance he gave to his grandmother.

Passing on words of wisdom to the pop star to help him stay on the right path, Loughlin said, "Probably, if I were him I would start listening to my mom again. I'd turn to my mom for some good solid advice. He needs to open his ears and start listening."

"I will say you gotta be careful because with that kind of fame does, even at a young age, come with responsibilities and kids are looking up to you and then sponsors are paying you and so it's tricky," she added. "I kind of feel for those kids. I'm sure they just wanna blow it out and just be kids. I'm sure he wants a day to just, like, kick back, go skateboarding or something silly like that.

"He's probably so scheduled, it's crazy. But, you know, you make that choice. You have responsibilities so if you want to stay in your career I think you have to make smart choices and be responsible."

Loughlin also talked about young stars in general and the load they must feel on their backs trying to juggle adult responsibilites early on in life.

"I think some of these kids, they're so young and they have so much fame and responsibility and I think it's gotta be hard when you're that young and you want your freedom and you wanna have fun, and yet you're scheduled and you've got responsibilities," she said. "I mean, I can't image what that pressure must be like."

Loughlin returns to television this fall starring in two Hallmark movies; Garage Sale Mystery on Sept. 14 and When Calls the Heart on Oct. 12.
