Mel Gibson, 70, has reportedly broken his longtime promise to date only women in their 30s after being seen romantically involved with Italian actress Antonella Salvucci, 44. The actor was photographed sharing kisses and affectionate moments with Salvucci during a night out in Rome, where he is currently finishing work on "The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One", a follow-up to "The Passion of the Christ".

According to Radar Online coverage, Gibson and Salvucci dined at the seafood restaurant Micalusi Real Fish before walking hand in hand through the streets of Rome. The couple also visited notable landmarks such as the Zodiac panoramic viewpoint and the Fontanone fountain on Gianicolo Hill.

Despite the public display of affection, sources close to Gibson say he is single and that the outing was more of a farewell to a friend before he returns to the United States.

The outing follows Gibson's confirmed split from longtime partner Rosalind Ross, 35, which was made public in December 2025 after reportedly separating a year earlier. Friends of the actor revealed that Gibson had joked about dating women in their 30s for youthful energy but now seems to have changed his mind given his connection with Salvucci.

"He absolutely looked captivated by her all night," said a source. "People around Mel think he has clearly thrown his old rules out the window."

Antonella Salvucci is known for her roles in horror films such as "The Beginning: Feel the Dead" and 'Nightmare Symphony", as well as the TV movie "Shelter". She previously worked as a fashion model and television presenter.

As per AOL, this public appearance comes weeks after Gibson was reportedly devastated by the death of actress Nadia Fares, who died in Paris following complications from a swimming pool accident. Fares had starred opposite Gibson in the 2022 thriller "On The Line" and had recently visited him on set in Rome.

Gibson, famed for iconic films like "Braveheart" and "Mad Max", shares nine children with three women. He and Rosalind Ross share a nine-year-old son, Lars. Gibson was married to Robyn Moore for 31 years and later dated musician Oksana Grigorieva.
