Ben Affleck finally opened up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon about the backlash he's suffered since the Aug. 22 bombshell about his winning the role of Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie.

"I'm a Big Boy," Affleck told Fallon on Monday night, letting his critics know that they can try to beat him down for the role, but he's not going to let the negativity get to him.

Critics and fans alike bashed director Zack Snyder's choice for Affleck to fill the iconic role most recently done throughout Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy by Christian Bale. Some felt he wasn't a good choice because of his previous superhero movie bomb Daredevil.

Actor Wil Wheaton tweeted, "Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli."

According to The New York Daily News, Affleck first learned of the backlash against him when past cast members sent him reactions from the internet, though he didn't initially think it would be as bad as it was.

"They said, 'Just don't use the Internet for a couple of days.' What do you mean? I handle s-t, you know what I mean? I'm very tough," the actor told Fallon.

That changed when he started seeing the range of reactions for himself.

"So I saw the announcement, I look at the first comment and it's like, 'Ben Affleck is going to be Batman' and the first one just goes, 'Noooooooo!'"

In addition to the comments, more than 30 petitions were filed on Change.org demanding that Affleck get dumped.

But Affleck, 41, still seemed eager to embrace the role and prove his critics wrong.

"I can handle any snub," he said.
