Jim Carrey shared the first picture of him and Jeff Daniels as Loyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in Dumb and Dumber To via his Twitter account.

Carrey posted the picture while promoting his new children's book, How Roland Rolls, suggesting that it might not be up Harry and Loyd's alley:

"How Roland Rolls comes out TODAY but it may be a little too sophisticated for Lloyd and Harry! Yep...THEY'RE BAAAAA..."

Carrey is seen in character, with a bowl haircut and chipped tooth, and Daniels is looking haggard as Harry.

On Sept. 22, Daniels won an Emmy Award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as William McAvoy in The Newsroom

LA Times journalist Amy Kaufman reported that, at the Emmys, Daniels suggested that the sequel was going to take the mayhem up a couple of notches. "There are some things we're going to do in Dumb & Dumber To that are going to make the toilet scene look lame," he said.

Walking Dead's Laurie Holden signed on to play the female lead in Dumb and Dumber To.

Holden will be co-starring in the sequel alongside the original duo. She will be portraying Adele Pichlow, the wife of a wealthy doctor who has gotten herself into some major trouble and exploits Harry and Lloyd to cover her tracks. The film take place 20 years after Carrey and Daniels set off on their first adventure.

The film is being directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly and is being financed by Red Granite in collaboration with Universal.

Daniels confirmed in July, while on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, that the film was on and shooting would begin in September.

"It'll be the 20th anniversary of the first one next year when it's released," he said of the sequel. "I've seen the script. It's hysterical. We're middle-aged. We're not pretending we aren't. We're middle-aged and we're still that stupid."

He also said that the script was "painfully funny."
