Fans and directors alike have been clamoring for Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Rai's return to the big screen for years, but they won't have to wait much longer.

Rai Bachchan has signed on for producer Gaurang Doshi's upcoming film Happy Anniversary, where she will star opposite her real-life husband Abhishek Bachchan.

Rumors have been circulating for a while that Aishwarya's comeback film would be one where she starred with her husband, according to Daily Bhaskar. They hears rumors the two were going to star opposite one another in the film Masoom, which producer Himesh Reshammiya wanted the couple for.

That project is at least on the back burner now, if not completely discarded.

In Anniversary, which Doshi wrote himself with Jay Varma, will have the Bachchan's starring as husband and wife. No other plot details have been revealed, but the slogan does read "No one dies a virgin, life screws us all."

Prahlad Kakkar, who directed Aishwarya in a Pepsi commercial opposite Aamir Khan almost 20 years ago, is set to direct the film, according to India Today.

The Bachchan's relationship with both Doshi and Kakkar are credited for why Aishwarya signed on to the film, her first since Guzaarish in 2010.

"I have always had a good equation with the Bachchan family. Prahad has known Aishwarya for the longest time," Doshi said. "Eventually it boils down to the script which was liked and appreciated by both Abhishek and Aishwarya. Why would an actor of the stature of Aishwarya agree to make a comeback in any film if she did not like the script?"

In preparation for the role, Aishwarya has begun to work out to lose the weight she gained after the birth of daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
