It appears as though the infamous World of Warcraft video game will be adapted for the big screen, as Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment have reportedly compiled a short list of potential candidates for roles.

According to Deadline, Prisoners' Paul Dano, Vikings' Travis Fimmel, Hell on Wheels' Anson Mount and Star Trek's Anton Yelchin are all potential suitors for parts.

However, Ghost Protocol's Paula Patton is apparently in the advanced negotiation stages of the casting and Total Recall's Colin Farrell has been made an offer for one of the lead roles.

Patton is the lead in Fox's Baggage Claim and also recently worked on 2 Guns. Farrell can be seen in Disney's upcoming film Saving Mr. Banks alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. He is also in the movie adaptation of Marc Helprin's Winter's Tale.

The World of Warcraft game takes place in a medieval times setting where gamers control characters that fight against enemies such as zombies, dragons, elves and werewolfs. Both traveling in time and alien-like worlds are part of the gaming experience.

The highly anticipated flick is one of Legendary's largest and was initially supposed to be shot at Warner Bros. However, the site also stated that the movie will likely be filmed at Universal Pictures.
