Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is one of the leading contenders to star in the upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, according to a new report by Variety.

Harington - who plays Jon Snow on Game of Thrones - is allegedly in the running to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the reboot of The Fantastic Four. Ioan Gruffudd played the role in the 2005 version of Fantastic Four and the 2007 sequel.

Assuming Harington gets the part, he will have to perform double duty as Jon Snow is one of the primary characters on Game of Thrones. The actor finished filming a film called Pompeii this summer. He is also one of the voices on How to Train Your Dragon 2. Both films are scheduled for release in 2014.

British actor Jack O'Connell and Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now) are also in the running to play Reed Richards.

Actresses Saoirse Ronan (The Host) and Kate Mara (House of Cards) are being tested to play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) is reportedly the only actor being tested to play Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

As for who will play Ben Grimm/The Thing, there aren't any known actors testing for the role at this time. The villain role has not been announced either.

The script for The Fantastic Four is still being worked on and will need to be finished before 20th Century Fox gives an official greenlight to the project. Regardless, the scheduled release date for The Fantastic Four is Mar. 6, 2015.
