Following reports that Queen Latifah will headline this year's annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival scheduled for May 19, questions about her sexuality have been raised. A press release from Long Beach Pride read: "This will be Queen Latifah's first-ever engagement at a Pride celebration anywhere in the world."

In the statement, Co-President Pat Crosby said, "From hip to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal, for her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community."

The Inquisitr published a story titled: "Queen Latifah Comes Out of The Closet" - sparking rumors that Queen Latifah is gay.

However, others have rebuked the rumors and have said that saying Queen Latifah just came out of the closet is very irresponsible. Many have pointed out the fact that many other straight celebrities have headlined and performed at the Long beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival in the past, and that Latifah's decision to attend the festival meant nothing about her own sexual preferences.

But this is not the first time that Queen Latifah has experienced reports concerning whether she is a lesbian or straight; various rumors have circulated about her over recent years. It was rumored that she ended a long-term relationship with Jeanette Jenkins, president of Hollywood Trainer fitness, in 2011.

However, the actress has refused to be drawn into speaking about her sexuality in public.
