Actor Chris Noth was asked to shed some weight for his role in the first Sex and The City movie back in 2008, he told Huff Post Live on Wednesday.

"When we were doing the movie of Sex and the City Michael Patrick King came up to me and said, 'Listen dude, we're not calling you Mr. Big because of the size of your stomach, so go lose that before we start," the 58-year-old Good Wife star said.

"I'm like...really?" he continued, while making hand motions to imply he had been stuffing his face when the comment was made.

The actor also talked to the publication about his work raising awareness for hunger relief efforts on World Food Day. He said during the interview that he truly does love to eat, which contributed to the weight he had put on between the Sex and the City television show's end in 2004 and the movie in 2008.

"I love food," he said.

Actors who were previously known for their bigger sizes include Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen, who have both slimmed down considerably since they broke into the movie scene.

Women have been known to receive criticism for weight in media. Jennifer Lawrence recently revealed an instance where she too was mocked for her weight, and Melissa McCarthy was mocked by critic Rex Ryan back in February for her weight in the movie Identity Thief. The Bridesmaids star was most recently criticized for being covered up and not showing enough skin on the November 2013 cover of Elle, which doubled as the magazine's annual "Women in Hollywood" issue.
