Justin Lin, the director of the last four films in the Fast and Furious franchise is in talks to direct the next film in the Bourne series.

Lin has signed on to work on the fifth installment in the Bourne franchise, which will be the sequel to the last in the series, The Bourne Legacy.

Anthony Peckham (Invictus, Sherlock Holmes) will be writing the script for the film, which will continue where the story left off in the Bourne Legacy (2012) with Aaron Cross playing the protagonist in the film directed by Tony Gilroy. Cross was among a group of agents who took part in Operation Outcome. Medically enhanced to be smarter and physically superior, the agents were targeted for termination. Renner starred with Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton in The Bourne Legacy.

Frank Marshall and Captivate Entertainment's Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner will be producing the film.

The movie is expected to release during the summer of 2015.

As Lin is not directing Fast and Furious 7, James Wan took over directing duties with this film.

In a recent interview, Tyrese Gibson spoke about the pressures Wan was facing as a director and how well he was rising up to the challenge.

"He's doing his thing man. I feel bad about the turn-around time. You can't prep a movie this big as fast as they dumped it in his lap but I think at the end of the day God will never give you too much that you can't handle," he said. "We're all becoming baby mad scientists and kind of picking everything apart to just help move the needle forward. He's doing his thing man. He's going to surprise a lot of people with how he just stepped in and he's doing his thing."
