The filming for Ghostbusters 3 will begin in spring of 2014 and Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are most likely to star, according to recent reports.

WKYC, NBC's Cleveland affiliate announced that a third film in the Ghostbusters series was in the works and production would begin in spring next year. The announcement said that Sony had already decided on start date in 2014 for filming.

Dan Akroyd has been rooting for this film for quite some time now and it seems like it is finally going to take off. Akroyd who starred in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II also spoke about the plot for the third installment in a previous interview:

"It's based on new research that's being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. Basically, there's research being donw that I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, out four planes of existence, length, height, width, and time, become threatened by some of the research that's being done. Ghostbuster -- new Ghostbusters -- have to come and solve the problem."

On Nov. 9 Schmoes Knows reported that Stone and Hill were being considered for lead roles in the film. The film publication suggested that two actors had already been offered the parts for playing the roles of Jeremy and Anna in the sequel.

Bill Murray, who was int he first two films, will not be reprising his role in the third one.
