Bradley Cooper will star in the Broadway adaptation of The Elephant Man, which arrives this fall.

Cooper will be playing the role of Joseph Merrick, a severly deformed man who was paraded as a freak show, without the use of any prosthetics, solely relying on manipulating his physicality. But this won't be new for the actor, as he has already played the role of the Elephant Man in an adaptation for the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2012.

Cooper follows in the footsteps of David Bowie, Mark Hamill and Billy Crudup, who have all played the role on Broadway.

Bernard Pomerance's 1977 play was popularized by the David Lynch 1980 film adaptation of the same name, which starred John Hurt as the Elephant Man.

While the other actors for the revival have not been revealed, it is being speculated that Patricia Clarkson, who played Mrs. Kendal in Lynch's film and Alessandro Nivola, who played Dr. Treves might be up for consideration.

In other related news, the 39-year-old actor also seemed to have finally made things official when it came to his romantic status with the 22-year-old British model Suki Waterhouse by bringing her as his date to the 2014 SAG awards. The couple was seen kissing each other and getting cozy at the ceremony.

Cooper has recently been in the news for his performance in American Hustle. The film won an award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture.

The actor has also been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for the 2014 Oscars, which will take place at the Kodak theater in LA on Mar. 2.
