X-Men: Days of Future Past star Omar Sy has joined the cast of Jurassic World.

Sy stated that he was proud to be joining the iconic franchise.

The French actor, who starred in the The Intouchables, announced the news via his Twitter account:

"Fan of this saga from the beginning, I'm very proud to be part of the cast for JURASSIC WORLD #jurassicworld @UniversalPics @colintrevorrow."

He also retweeted the news in French. The director of the film, Colin Trevorrow, also boosted the announcement via his Twitter account, also endearingly tweeting in French: "Très heureux d'accueillir @OmarSy dans Jurassic World. @JurassicParkFR."

Nothing has been revealed about the nature of the character in the Dinosaur thriller.

In X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sy plays the role of Bishop, a mutant who can manipulate forms of energy and harness then into kinetic blasts.

Sy is the latest addition to the exciting cast which includes Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black), Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi), Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt and Ty Simpkins.

The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about pre-historic beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are co-producing the film alongside Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments in the franchise.

The film hits theaters June 12, 2015.
