Rielle Hunter on 'The View': John Edward's Mistress Called 'Crappy' and 'Heartless' [VIDEO]
Rielle Hunter was blasted by the ladies of ABC's "The View" Tuesday in an interview that got as intense as it could be.
Hunter discussed her tell-all book with the ladies and the status of her relationship with the former presidential nominee.
Hunter said she broke up with John Edwards recently and when asked about the reasons for the split she said:
"I'm not a mistress I'm a mom and I don't want to hide...It's hard for us to go to restaurants, it's hard for us to go to the movies...it's hard."
But the interview got more intense when co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck questioned her about what she wrote in her book when she blamed Elizabeth Edwards for her husband's cheating on her.
"Do you blame her for your cheating with him?" a straightforward Hasselbeck asked.
"I believe that their problems in their marriage, yes, did not help them to find another way. I don't think is right to do that but I believe..."
"What is not right?" Joy Behar interrupted.
"Infidelity?" Hunter replied. "I fell in love with him, which was a surprise to me, and I became that in order to be with him," she explained.
But perhaps one of the most intense moments of the interview came when co-host Whoopi Goldberg called her "crappy" "schemey" and "heartless."
"I have to say this," Goldberg said, "In your book you trashed a dead lady whose husband you had an affair and a baby with. Did it not occurred to you that maybe that may not be the right tone to take? Particularly if you're trying to get people to see you as part of this sort of new couple. I mean it's kind of a 'crappy' thing to do."
"...to put the truth out there makes you look bad, it makes you look schemey and kind of heartless," Goldberg said.
"But right now the personas are of Elizabeth being a saint and John Edwards being a demon and me as a home-wrecker" Hunter replied.
Another must-watch moment was when co-host Behar brought up the sex tape she recorded with Edwards.
Hunter sarcastically said "Wasn't it brilliant?" and laughed but none of the ladies laughed with her.
Hunter's tell-all book "What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me" was released today.
