Ann Curry was reportedly offered strong support from Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie when she was ousted from her anchor job at NBC's "TODAY" show.

Angelina Jolie reportedly reached out to the former morning show co-host because she has "tremendous respect for Ann." According to Radar Online, Jolie told Curry that neither she nor her fiance Brad Pitt would schedule an interview with "TODAY" unless it is conducted by Curry.

"Angie doesn't like how Ann has been treated by NBC," a source told the website.

"Angelina reached out to Ann Curry after she was fired from her gig on the TODAY show and was very clear, if ANY news program from NBC wants an interview with her, or Brad, Ann will be the only one to do it," the source added. "With rumors of an upcoming wedding for the couple, NBC will lose any interviews with the actors in the future if Ann isn't allowed to do it."

Curry ended a year-long stint as co-host with Matt Lauer after NBC's ratings declined. The "Today" show had previously led the ratings war with other morning shows for a massive 16 years, but was recently topped by ABC's "Good Morning America." The defeat led to Curry being replaced by Savannah Guthrie.

Huffington Post reported that "Good Morning America" beat TODAY by an average of 162,000 viewers, according to the The Nielsen Co. on Monday, Aug. 20.

"TODAY" beat "GMA" during the two weeks of the Olympics by an average of more than 1.5 million viewers a week, but was beaten by "GMA "for five weeks prior to the London Games.

According to a recent report Curry's exit from the "TODAY Show" had left several staffers so disappointed that one of them came forward to admit that it was a mistake for NBC to replace her with Savannah Guthrie.

Allegedly Curry's former colleagues have also anonymously disclosed that Matt Lauer is "hated" by NBC executives and longtime staffers for having a hand in her departure.

"There are several producers that have been with the 'TODAY Show' for a very long time, over ten years, and Matt Lauer is now hated by them because they feel that he is responsible for Ann Curry's being fired," a source told Radar Online, reported on Aug. 17.

Ann Curry revealed in an interview prior to her exit from "TODAY" that her on-air wardrobe was bot liked by the producers of the show.

"One day I wore a multicoloured dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam," she told Ladies Home Journal magazine. "But I chose it because I thought, 'this will perk up America.'"

Curry later became "Today" anchor-at-large and an international and national correspondent for NBC News.
