'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Author E.L. James Says Ryan Gosling As Christian Grey Is Just A Rumor
Rumor has it Ryan Gosling is the first choice to play Christian Grey in a film adaptation of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy, but the author says nothing is so certain.
Reports this week said that Gosling was a favorite among producers and quoted the trilogy's author E.L. James' husband, Niall Leonard, as saying that "last he heard" Gosling was the top pick.
But the author herself took to Twitter to dispel any notion that the casting is close to being solidified.
"All rumour at the moment *rolls eyes* :)" she wrote.
Her tweet was likely directed at speculation about not only Gosling but any other actors who have been reported as close to snagging the role of the S&M-loving entrepreneur.
Author Bret Easton Ellis, who was formerly in contention to write the script for the "Fifty Shades" film, wrote on Twitter that porn star James Deen was also up for the role. Deen just wrapped production on Ellis' "The Canyons," which also stars Lindsay Lohan.
"Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' with E.L. James support," Ellis tweeted.
Though James hasn't spoken out on her top choice for the role of Christian Grey, she did dish about music to Business Insider. CLICK HERE to see what kind of tunes the author called "music to f-ck to."
