ABC will air on Thursday the Thanksgiving special "Michael Jackson: BAD 25," the documentary celebrating the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's iconic "BAD" album and tour.

"BAD 25" was directed by award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee. The film chronicles the making of the pop star's record-breaking "BAD" album and his first tour as a solo artist.

Through exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage, Lee focused on Jackson's creative vision for the album. Jackson's collaborators included the famed film director Martin Scorsese, who directed the 18-minute short film for the single "Bad." Others who worked with Jackson talked about vivid memories with the late pop star on the ABC special.

The Los Angeles Times previewed the special and called it a "fitting tribute."

When Lee examined how Jackson came up with the iconic look of the studded and buckled black leather jacket, pants and boots, he turned the camera to Kanye West to weigh in on the topic, according to the review

West gave his input and reportedly said in the documentary, "I'm almost dressed like that today."

"BAD 25" coincides with the release of the deluxe album "BAD 25." It contains a re-mastered version of the original album, a second disc that includes 13 unreleased bonus tracks, and the first ever DVD of the "Bad" world tour.

Lee first screened "BAD 25" at the Venice International Film Festival in August. The big screen version was longer so the director had to edit one hour of footage to make it fit for ABC.

Lee also directed the music video for Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us," which was shot in Brazil. The song was from Jackson's 1996 "History" album.

Lee has directed other documentaries, including the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning HBO specials "When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts" and "If God Is Willing And Da Creek Don't Rise." Also "Kobe Doin' Work" and the Academy Award-nominated "4 Little Girls."
