A Yahoo! report revealed that an invaluable statue, the Shingir Idol, which dates back to about 11,000 years was discovered in Russia.

According to the report, the idol, is as old as the Pyramids and the Stonehenge, and was unearthed in a peat bog in the country.

What's most fascinating about this find is the encrypted code inscribed on the statue. According to Professor Mikhail Zhilin of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Archaeology, the purpose of the idol was to pass on knowledge with the encrypted information.

"The ornament is covered with nothing but encrypted information. People were passing on knowledge with the help of the Idol," he said.

Although, the idol was discovered 125 years ago, and the experts estimated it was 9,500 years old, new research from Manheim, Germany has revealed that it is infact older.

Using sophisticated technology, Accelerated Mass Spectrometry which asseses small fragments of the statue, the research revealed that it is at least 11,000 years old. Yahoo! goes on to state that this means that the sculpture is actually from a time from the beginning of the Holocene epoch, the period when man became the frontunner and started to gain predominance in the world order.

This is good news coming from the country which has mostly been suprising us with new bans on the internet -- like the most recent one on Wikipedia and before that Reddit had been targetted. Russia has become a censory minefield, and things only seem to be deteriorating on that front.
