"Fifty Shades of Grey" enthusiasts still continue to swarm the Internet at an unreal pace in order to find out just who will ultimately be casted for the part of S&M billionaire Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the E.L. James erotica.  One of the names that has recently resurfaced again is actor Garrett Hedlund of the epic film "Troy."

The current speculation that is revolving around Hedlund can be mostly attributed to a simple tweet that author James had posted, which read "Watching Troy."

While an assumption that James was viewing the popular flick in order to evaluate Hedlund's acting chops for the Grey part is clearly far-fetched, no one still knows for certain whether the writer was actually watching the movie for pure entertainment.

Nonetheless, the two words she typed seemingly ignited a fan frenzy that she may have been scouting Hedlund for the role of the S&M-crazed billionaire.

Hedlund primarily caught the eyes of "Fifty Shades" fans while partaking in a kinky sexual encounter with Kristen Stewart in "On The Road."

In his favor, the 28-year-old actor isn't too far off from Christian Grey's age, which is 27.

Hedlund began to gain popularity for his role on the hit show "Friday Night Lights," and also received notoriety as the younger brother in the Mark Wahlberg film "Four Brothers."

Other potential top candidates for the Grey character include "Les Miserables" Eddie Redmayne, "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder, "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford and "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, among many others.

Up until this point, E.L. James and her producers attached to the future film have remained relatively coy on just how the casting process will unfold.  Only time will truly tell who eventually walks away with the highly anticipated roles of Grey and his college graduate sex partner, Anastasia Steele.
