They've been waiting patiently for nearly a year after the film was initially slated for a Spring 2015 release, and with still no word on a release date of even a trailer for Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, fans are starting to wonder if they've been scammed. 

Darin Brooks Shares An Update On 'BMS: The Movie's Progress

The movie, which picks up where the Spike TV show left off after it was canceled following its third season, was successfully funded via a kickstarter campaign, and wrapped up filming late last year. However, since then, there has been little word about when fans would be able to see the movie, with a release date continually pushed back. 

Stars like Darin Brooks and Alan Ritchson, who portray Alex and Thad, have since spoken up about the delays and saying that they aren't entirely aware of what was going on, though the movie was being held for some unknown reason by Lionsgate, which is supposed to distribute it.

However, the movie's release date has since changed on IMDB to an unspecified time in 2016, meaning it is once again off the calendar for this year-and now fans are starting to wonder if they have been played when it comes to the movie's existence. 

Many have taken to the movie's Facebook page to share their frustrations, with several putting forth the possibility that they were scammed out of their money by a con, while others seemed just generally frustrated with the endless hold up on Lionsgate's end.

For now, there has been no official word on when the movie will be released in 2016.
