The 85th annual Academy Awards airs live on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. ET and with the nominees already announced, many reports have predictions for the night's biggest winners in the area of acting, cinematography, directing and more.

In the category of Best Picture and based on data such as box office gross, audience ratings and critical ratings, The Huffington Post predicted that the Ben Affleck directed film Argo will take home the honor. Fellow nominees include Lincoln, Silver Lining Playbook , Life of Pie, Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Amour.

Argo grossed in the box office -- with data compilation based on how much a movie earned in theaters in the U.S. week-by-week since it opened -- $120 million. Out of all the nominees in the category, Lincoln grossed the most - $171 million - but stumped in terms of audience ratings. In data last updated on Tuesday, the Post noted that Argo has an 88 percent chance of winning compared to Lincoln's 10.9 percent.

NBC News also predicted that Argo could take home the award, however, the odds may not be completely in its favor. Affleck was not nominated for Best Director and the last time a film won Best Picture without receiving a Best Director nomination was in 1989 for Driving Miss Daisy. Three films have only done so in the history of the Academy Awards.

"If the no-best-picture-without-a-director-nomination rule holds, [Steven] Spielberg's Lincoln is where your smart money goes," the report added, calling the other films nominated "longshots" for the win. Jessica Chastain was also predicted to repeat her Golden Globes win for Best Actress.

E! Online also predicted that Chastain's performance in Zero Dark Thirty has given her the edge over Jennifer Lawrence, who the report claimed is Chastain's biggest competitor in the Best Actress category. The site added that Best Actor will likely go to Daniel Day-Lewis "still" with Best Supporting Actor given to Tommy Lee Jones and Best Supporting Actress to Anne Hathaway.

Five directors are nominated in the category of Best Director and IndieWire predicted that "the race is definitely between Spielberg and [Ang] Lee" for Lincoln and Life of Pi respectively. Final predictions stated that Spielberg has "a slight edge" and will win. Nominees in the category include Michael Haneke for Amour, Benh Zeitlin for Beasts of the Southern Wild and David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook.
