Following the impressive release of the new Iron Man 3 trailer, many fans are expecting Tony Stark's trifecta to be more thrilling than any of his other cinematic adventures.

In an interview with MTV News, Robert Downey Jr. spoke about the future blockbuster earlier in the year to stress the action. A poster of Tony's destructed Malibu pad has led fans to believe that they have much more to look forward to in May.

Interesting enough, Iron Man 3 will be Downey's fourth time armoring up for the heroin role, and fifth in total, if his cameo to close The Incredible Hulk is counted.

While the course of time has led to improvements on the bulky Iron Man costume, Downey goes on to explain to the music television site that it's just as cumbersome in the big scheme of it all.

"It's lighter and more flexible, but there's no comfortable version of it. It's kind of like, 'Don't you think these bamboo shoots are a little less rough on the cuticle until they get down to the nerve?'"

Downey went on to address his relationship with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and state that the newbie monogamous Stark fascinates him due to superheroes seldom being "in a committed relationship."

"It's such a different time generationally. There has to be conflict in the relationship, and there has to be a resolution that isn't the same," he said.

Downey went on to point out Bruce Wayne's escapades with Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger) and Docter Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) in Batman and Batman Forever respectively.

It will also be a reunion of sorts for Downey, as he'll once again work with buddy Jon Favreau, who plays Happy Hogan and had directed the first two installments of the Marvel's hit prior to handing the reigns over to Shane Black.

"We would call Jon Favreau [and say] 'What do we do?'  He'd be like, 'Stick with this, stick with the love story," he said.

Iron Man 3 is set to be released on the big screen across U.S. theaters on May 3.
