'Star Trek Beyond' Spoilers: Director Justin Lin Posts Iconic Image From First Day Of Shooting [VIDEO]

Justin Lin just honored a momentous day in the Star Trek universe, i.e, the first day of earth's contact with the Vulcans.

The director of Star Trek Beyond posted a still from the first day of filming, in which he is seen behind-the-scenes in a forest setting with two actors in alien getup. Lin also wishes fans, "Happy first contact day," via Twitter:

This was also intended as a contest for fans to guess which actor is which inside the alien garbs. The link leads to a page, 'You Offend Me You Offend My Family.' Here's the bit about the contest:

"To celebrate the moment when Humans and Vulcans made first contact (April 5, 2063), thought I'd share a photo from the first day of the STAR TREK BEYOND shoot. Here I am hanging with two of my favorite people to ever work with.

And just for fun, I'll send the first person who correctly guesses the identities of these two actors an official STB crew t-shirt and signed STB poster. Just leave your guesses in the comments section below. And a small note-because the shirt contains spoilers for the film and the poster hasn't been finalized yet, I won't be able to send it out until closer to the STB release date this July, but rest assured you'll get it as soon as possible.

I know this will probably be a tough one since the casting of these two actors hasn't been announced yet and you won't find them listed on IMDb. So here's a hint-I've worked with them both before STB. Good luck.

UPDATE (4/5/16, 11:35PM PST): Thank you everyone for your guesses. Several people guessed correctly and we'll be sending all of them the t-shirt and posters. Once we've reached out to them, we'll announce the names and also the identity of the two actors.

Star Trek Beyond is the third entry in the rebooted sci-fi franchise, which already includes Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek: Into the Darkness (2013). The first two were helmed by J.J. Abrams, who's now busy heading up the Star Wars sequels, so this one is directed by Fast & Furious reviver Justin Lin with the familiar crew of Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Bones (Karl Urban), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) all set to return.

Star Trek Beyond will open in theaters on July 22, 2016.
