Mayte Garcia of VH1’s Hollywood Exes was on the mind of lots of fans after news of her ex-husband, Prince’s death made headlines.

Garcia has now broken her silence and candidly shared her thoughts in a statement to People magazine Thursday.

“I can’t even think of the words of what I’m feeling,” said Garcia, who is said to be the inspiration behind Prince’s hit The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. “This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated.”

The two first crossed paths in 1990 just before she was signed on as one of his background dancers for his Diamonds and Pearls Tour. They tied the knot in 1996.

Garcia had been very candid on Hollywood Exes about the tragedy they experienced during their marriage after the loss of their child later that year. He was a week old and passed away of Pfeiffer syndrome. It’s a very unique disease that impacts the skull and bones in ones’ hands and feet.
“He’s with our son now,” Garcia said.

The two split in 2000.

Prince’s death was confirmed Thursday afternoon after reports swirled that a man had passed away on his estate.

His publicist did confirm that Prince was the man and released a statement.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
