If there's anything certain about the Xbox Scorpio, it is the fact that the immensely-powerful machine would be pretty expensive. Considering the next-generation console's suite of features, however, a price that goes within or above the range of $599 per unit seems to be about fair.

Thankfully, Microsoft seems to be taking this notion into careful consideration. In an interview with The Daily Star, general manager at Xbox Services Dave McCarthy assured fans that the next generation console would not be very hard to acquire.

In fact, according to McCarthy, the Xbox Scorpio would be pretty affordable for those who currently have an Xbox One.

"Some of our retail partners today do trade-in programs and that's definitely going to be partnerships we continue to move going forward. We want to make that transition as smooth as possible," he said.

With this statement, it would definitely be easier for existing Xbox owners to acquire the tech giant's most powerful gaming console. With Microsoft's initiatives towards backward compatibility, gamers would not even have to worry about their favorite gamers being unplayable on the new console.

"The compatibility thing is a big deal, because you feeling you have to give up your games isn't a good feeling, so we take that angst out of the equation. The games you already own on Xbox One, the ones you're going to buy this year and in the future will work across the family of devices," McCarthy stated.

Microsoft has recently gone on the offensive in the ongoing gaming console wars. Initially getting beaten by Sony's powerhouse PlayStation 4, Microsoft has opted to update its existing flagship console, the Xbox One, to the Xbox One S. Apart from the release of the Xbox One S, however, Microsoft has also announced the Xbox Scorpio, which is set to be released sometime next year.

The Xbox Scorpio is speculated to be the most powerful dedicated gaming console built so far, with 6 teraflops of performance and native 4K gaming capabilities.
